Health and vet care in Madannegi

Local climate decides which problems actually turn up. Given winters get genuinely cold, so warmth and joint care take priority, the recurring ones here are skin and coat trouble, parasites and hydration — not the whole textbook. Keep vaccination and deworming on schedule, and book the check before the cold winter season rather than during it. Check paws for cracking and ice between toes during the coldest months.

The first week

The first week is about routine, not excitement. Feed at consistent times, let the puppy approach people in its own time rather than being passed around, and keep the diet unchanged at first.

Feeding a small dog here

Feed age-appropriate food matched to a small build, and change brands gradually rather than overnight. In temperate highland conditions water matters as much as food — winters get genuinely cold, so warmth and joint care take priority, and appetite often dips before anything else shows.

Is the Pug Puppy right for Madannegi?

Space and the outdoors with a Pug Puppy

Space is rarely the constraint here; the routine is what needs attention. For a charming, mischievous, loving dog the fit is usually good either way.

Summers here are mild, peaking at about 26°C in June, so heat is rarely the problem for a Pug that it is on the plains.

Winter nights fall to about -1°C in January. A Pug feels that: bedding raised off the floor, a sweater or warm cover at night, and a room kept out of the draught.

The rainy season runs from June to September, and July is usually the wettest month. Check for ticks after every walk.

For a new Pug puppy, the easiest months to arrive are May: not too hot, not too wet, and warm enough at night.
