Summers here are mild, peaking at about 27°C in May, so heat is rarely the problem for a Afghan Hound that it is on the plains.

Winters are cool rather than cold, with January nights around 6°C.

The rainy season runs from May to September, and July is usually the wettest month. Check for ticks after every walk; dry inside the ears after baths and rain, since droopy ears trap moisture.

For a new Afghan Hound puppy, the easiest months to arrive are October to April: not too hot, not too wet, and warm enough at night.
