Grooming and coat care in Kalimpong

The aim is dry, clean skin — appearance comes second. Kalimpong being humid coastal, moisture in the air can encourage skin and ear issues if grooming slips, so a regular brush prevents most of what would otherwise become a vet visit. Keep bedding dry and the resting area well-ventilated, especially during the monsoon.

Space and the outdoors with a Chihuahua Puppy

Homes around Kalimpong usually come with their own ground, which takes the pressure off a formal exercise plan. A tiny-sized breed manages this well when the outdoor time is genuinely regular.

The first week

Expect a quiet few days. Most puppies eat less and sleep more while they settle. Keep the food the same as before the move, introduce the household gradually rather than all at once, and hold off on visitors for a bit.

Living with a Chihuahua Puppy in Kalimpong

With independent houses common, there is usually room for a tiny-sized breed to exercise at home. Owners across the eastern region tend to find this dog a family friendly, good with kids companion, and the settling-in is usually easier than the first week suggests.

Feeding a tiny dog here

Feed age-appropriate food matched to a tiny build, and change brands gradually rather than overnight. In humid coastal conditions water matters as much as food — moisture in the air can encourage skin and ear issues if grooming slips, and appetite often dips before anything else shows.

The city sits at about 1,566 m above sea level, so it runs cooler than the plains around it.

Summers here are mild, peaking at about 25°C in May, so heat is rarely the problem for a Chihuahua that it is on the plains.

Winter nights fall to about 4°C in January. A Chihuahua feels that: bedding raised off the floor, a sweater or warm cover at night, and a room kept out of the draught.

The rainy season runs from May to September, and July is usually the wettest month. Check for ticks after every walk.

For a new Chihuahua puppy, the easiest months to arrive are April and October: not too hot, not too wet, and warm enough at night.
