Space and the outdoors with a African Grey Parrot

Homes around East Godavari usually come with their own ground, which takes the pressure off a formal exercise plan. A medium-sized breed manages this well when the outdoor time is genuinely regular.

Feeding a medium bird here

Feed age-appropriate food matched to a medium build, and change brands gradually rather than overnight. In humid coastal conditions water matters as much as food — the sea-influenced humidity makes ventilation and dry bedding important, and appetite often dips before anything else shows.

Exercise and routine through the long monsoon in East Godavari

Build the day around local conditions rather than a figure from a breed chart. In East Godavari, the sea-influenced humidity makes ventilation and dry bedding important, which makes timing the variable that matters. Several brief outings suit this size better than one long one. Keep bedding dry and the resting area well-ventilated, especially during the monsoon.

Health and vet care in East Godavari

Preventive care in East Godavari is largely a matter of anticipating the long monsoon. Parasite control and skin checks earn their keep here more than they would elsewhere. The vaccination record travels with the bird; staying on schedule is the single best habit there is. Keep bedding dry and the resting area well-ventilated, especially during the monsoon.

The first week

Expect a quiet few days. Most birds eat less and sleep more while they settle. Keep the food the same as before the move, introduce the household gradually rather than all at once, and hold off on visitors for a bit.

East Godavari is hottest in April, averaging 38°C in the afternoon. A African Grey Parrot needs real protection from that: a cage well away from windows and direct sun, a shallow bath dish, and a room that stays under about 32°C.

Winters are mild, with January nights around 17°C, so cold is not a concern.

The rainy season runs from June to October, and October is usually the wettest month. Keep the cage out of damp corners and change the paper daily.

For a new African Grey Parrot bird, the easiest months to arrive are November to February: not too hot, not too wet, and warm enough at night.
