The first week

Expect a quiet few days. Most birds eat less and sleep more while they settle. Keep the food the same as before the move, introduce the household gradually rather than all at once, and hold off on visitors for a bit.

Feeding a medium bird here

Feed age-appropriate food matched to a medium build, and change brands gradually rather than overnight. In coastal tropical conditions water matters as much as food — moisture in the air can encourage skin and ear issues if grooming slips, and appetite often dips before anything else shows.

Living with a African Grey Parrot in Narasannapeta

Larger plots and open surroundings make this a comfortable setting for an active African Grey Parrot. With more room to work with, the routine can stay informal, though it should still be regular.

Space and the outdoors with a African Grey Parrot

Space is rarely the constraint here; the routine is what needs attention. For a family friendly, good with kids bird the fit is usually good either way.

Exercise and routine through the long monsoon in Narasannapeta

Build the day around local conditions rather than a figure from a breed chart. In Narasannapeta, moisture in the air can encourage skin and ear issues if grooming slips, which makes timing the variable that matters. Several brief outings suit this size better than one long one. Keep bedding dry and the resting area well-ventilated, especially during the monsoon.

Narasannapeta is hottest in April, averaging 38°C in the afternoon, and stays above 38°C from April to May. A African Grey Parrot needs real protection from that: a cage well away from windows and direct sun, a shallow bath dish, and a room that stays under about 32°C.

Winters are mild, with January nights around 16°C, so cold is not a concern.

The rainy season runs from June to October, and September is usually the wettest month. Keep the cage out of damp corners and change the paper daily.

For a new African Grey Parrot bird, the easiest months to arrive are November to February: not too hot, not too wet, and warm enough at night.
