The first week

The first week is about routine, not excitement. Feed at consistent times, let the bird approach people in its own time rather than being passed around, and keep the diet unchanged at first.

Exercise and routine through the long monsoon in Srikalahasti

Build the day around local conditions rather than a figure from a breed chart. In Srikalahasti, moisture in the air can encourage skin and ear issues if grooming slips, which makes timing the variable that matters. Several brief outings suit this size better than one long one. Keep bedding dry and the resting area well-ventilated, especially during the monsoon.

Grooming and coat care in Srikalahasti

Let the weather set the schedule, not the calendar. With moisture in the air can encourage skin and ear issues if grooming slips, a Blue Monk's coat and skin want checking more often through the long monsoon. On a smaller coat, irritation shows up well before matting does. Keep bedding dry and the resting area well-ventilated, especially during the monsoon.

Space and the outdoors with a Blue Monk

Space is rarely the constraint here; the routine is what needs attention. For a family friendly, good with kids bird the fit is usually good either way.

Feeding a small bird here

Feed age-appropriate food matched to a small build, and change brands gradually rather than overnight. In coastal tropical conditions water matters as much as food — moisture in the air can encourage skin and ear issues if grooming slips, and appetite often dips before anything else shows.
