Exercise and routine through the cold winter season in Namtok Eac

Build the day around local conditions rather than a figure from a breed chart. In Namtok Eac, crisp hill weather is comfortable for most dogs but harsh for short-coated ones in winter, which makes timing the variable that matters. Two shorter outings work better here for a breed this size. Older pets may need joint support as cold can stiffen movement.

Feeding a large bird here

Diet is simpler than most guides make it. Good food suited to a large frame, fixed mealtimes, and any change phased in over a week. Because crisp hill weather is comfortable for most dogs but harsh for short-coated ones in winter, keep water available and watch intake through the cold winter season.

The first week

The first week is about routine, not excitement. Feed at consistent times, let the bird approach people in its own time rather than being passed around, and keep the diet unchanged at first.

Space and the outdoors with a Blue & Gold Macaw
