The first week

Health and vet care in Guwahati

Preventive care in Guwahati is largely a matter of anticipating the extended rainy season. Parasite control and skin checks earn their keep here more than they would elsewhere. The vaccination record travels with the bird; staying on schedule is the single best habit there is. Keep a dry, raised resting area — prolonged damp leads to skin and paw problems.

Grooming and coat care in Guwahati

Let the weather set the schedule, not the calendar. With the green, rainy climate is mild but demands dry shelter and grooming discipline, a Yellow Monk's coat and skin want checking more often through the extended rainy season. On a smaller coat, irritation shows up well before matting does. Maintain strict tick, flea and worm control, which peak in the wet season.

Living with a Yellow Monk in Guwahati

City flats and high-rises are the norm, which suits a well-exercised, indoor-friendly Yellow Monk. Owners in the North-East tend to find this bird a family friendly, good with kids companion, and the settling-in is usually easier than the first week suggests.

Is the Yellow Monk right for Guwahati?

Start with the weather, not the breed standard. Here the green, rainy climate is mild but demands dry shelter and grooming discipline, and a small-sized bird feels that more than an owner expects. The Yellow Monk adapts well to Guwahati on a sensible routine — steady hydration and shade rather than reduced activity. Maintain strict tick, flea and worm control, which peak in the wet season.
