The first week

The first week is about routine, not excitement. Feed at consistent times, let the bird approach people in its own time rather than being passed around, and keep the diet unchanged at first.

Grooming and coat care in Saraswati Vihar

Let the weather set the schedule, not the calendar. With the climate swings from hot summers to cool winters, so care changes with the season, a Blue & Gold Macaw's coat and skin want checking more often through the peak summer and winter swings. On a larger coat, matting and trapped moisture are what to catch early. Keep deworming and vaccination on schedule — seasonal changes can stress the immune system.

Feeding a large bird here

Feed age-appropriate food matched to a large build, and change brands gradually rather than overnight. In hot-summer / cool-winter conditions water matters as much as food — the climate swings from hot summers to cool winters, so care changes with the season, and appetite often dips before anything else shows.

Health and vet care in Saraswati Vihar

Preventive care in Saraswati Vihar is largely a matter of anticipating the peak summer and winter swings. Parasite control and skin checks earn their keep here more than they would elsewhere. The vaccination record travels with the bird; staying on schedule is the single best habit there is. Shift walks to early morning and late evening through the peak summer weeks.

Saraswati Vihar is hottest in May, averaging 43°C in the afternoon, and stays above 38°C from April to June. A Blue & Gold Macaw needs real protection from that: a cage well away from windows and direct sun, a shallow bath dish, and a room that stays under about 32°C.

Winters are cool rather than cold, with January nights around 6°C. A light sweater helps a large Blue & Gold Macaw on the coldest nights.

The rainy season runs from July to August, and July is usually the wettest month. Keep the cage out of damp corners and change the paper daily.

For a new Blue & Gold Macaw bird, the easiest months to arrive are March, September, October and November: not too hot, not too wet, and warm enough at night.
