Exercise and routine through the cold winter season in Nurpur

The cold winter season is the stretch that needs planning. The cooler climate suits thick-coated breeds but needs winter planning for others, so keep sessions short and frequent. Consistency does more for a African Grey Parrot than intensity ever will. Provide a warm, draught-free sleeping spot and a coat for short-haired breeds in winter.

The first week

Expect a quiet few days. Most birds eat less and sleep more while they settle. Keep the food the same as before the move, introduce the household gradually rather than all at once, and hold off on visitors for a bit.

Feeding a medium bird here

Feed age-appropriate food matched to a medium build, and change brands gradually rather than overnight. In temperate highland conditions water matters as much as food — the cooler climate suits thick-coated breeds but needs winter planning for others, and appetite often dips before anything else shows.

Health and vet care in Nurpur

Preventive care in Nurpur is largely a matter of anticipating the cold winter season. Parasite control and skin checks earn their keep here more than they would elsewhere. The vaccination record travels with the bird; staying on schedule is the single best habit there is. Provide a warm, draught-free sleeping spot and a coat for short-haired breeds in winter.

Grooming and coat care in Nurpur

Let the weather set the schedule, not the calendar. With the cooler climate suits thick-coated breeds but needs winter planning for others, a African Grey Parrot's coat and skin want checking more often through the cold winter season. On a smaller coat, irritation shows up well before matting does. Keep up daily exercise — the cool weather is ideal for longer, more active walks.

Nurpur is hottest in June, averaging 39°C in the afternoon. A African Grey Parrot needs real protection from that: a cage well away from windows and direct sun, a shallow bath dish, and a room that stays under about 32°C.

Winters are cool rather than cold, with January nights around 8°C. A light sweater helps a medium African Grey Parrot on the coldest nights.

The rainy season runs from July to August, and July is usually the wettest month. Keep the cage out of damp corners and change the paper daily.

For a new African Grey Parrot bird, the easiest months to arrive are March, April, September, October and November: not too hot, not too wet, and warm enough at night.
