The first week

The first week is about routine, not excitement. Feed at consistent times, let the bird approach people in its own time rather than being passed around, and keep the diet unchanged at first.

Grooming and coat care in Konni

The aim is dry, clean skin — appearance comes second. Konni being coastal tropical, the air stays humid through much of the year, so coat and skin care need attention, so a regular brush prevents most of what would otherwise become a vet visit. Dry the coat and ears thoroughly after baths or rain to prevent fungal and skin issues.

Is the African Love Birds right for Konni?

Konni is coastal tropical — the air stays humid through much of the year, so coat and skin care need attention — and the African Love Birds is a tiny-sized, family friendly, good with kids breed. Those two facts decide most of what daily life looks like here. A breed this size copes well, provided shade and water are always within reach. Dry the coat and ears thoroughly after baths or rain to prevent fungal and skin issues.

Feeding a tiny bird here

Diet is simpler than most guides make it. Good food suited to a tiny frame, fixed mealtimes, and any change phased in over a week. Because the air stays humid through much of the year, so coat and skin care need attention, keep water available and watch intake through the long monsoon.

Space and the outdoors with a African Love Birds

Space is rarely the constraint here; the routine is what needs attention. For a family friendly, good with kids bird the fit is usually good either way.
