Exercise and routine through the extended rainy season in Song Song

The extended rainy season is the stretch that needs planning. The green, rainy climate is mild but demands dry shelter and grooming discipline, so keep sessions short and frequent. Consistency does more for a Cockatiel than intensity ever will. Towel-dry after every walk in the rains and check between the toes for irritation.

The first week

Expect a quiet few days. Most birds eat less and sleep more while they settle. Keep the food the same as before the move, introduce the household gradually rather than all at once, and hold off on visitors for a bit.

Start with the weather, not the breed standard. Here the green, rainy climate is mild but demands dry shelter and grooming discipline, and a small-sized bird feels that more than an owner expects. The Cockatiel adapts well to Song Song on a sensible routine — steady hydration and shade rather than reduced activity. Maintain strict tick, flea and worm control, which peak in the wet season.

Larger plots and open surroundings make this a comfortable setting for an active Cockatiel. Owners across the North-Eastern states tend to find this bird a calm, friendly, easy to train companion, and the settling-in is usually easier than the first week suggests.

Feeding a small bird here

Feed age-appropriate food matched to a small build, and change brands gradually rather than overnight. In lush, wet tropical conditions water matters as much as food — the green, rainy climate is mild but demands dry shelter and grooming discipline, and appetite often dips before anything else shows.
