Is the African Grey Parrot right for Lumshnong?

Start with the weather, not the breed standard. Here near-constant moisture means skin, paw and bedding hygiene need real attention, and a medium-sized bird feels that more than an owner expects. The African Grey Parrot adapts well to Lumshnong on a sensible routine — steady hydration and shade rather than reduced activity. Ensure good airflow indoors to keep the coat and bedding from staying damp.

Exercise and routine through the extended rainy season in Lumshnong

The extended rainy season is the stretch that needs planning. Near-constant moisture means skin, paw and bedding hygiene need real attention, so keep sessions short and frequent. Consistency does more for a African Grey Parrot than intensity ever will. Maintain strict tick, flea and worm control, which peak in the wet season.

Feeding a medium bird here

Feed age-appropriate food matched to a medium build, and change brands gradually rather than overnight. In monsoon-heavy conditions water matters as much as food — near-constant moisture means skin, paw and bedding hygiene need real attention, and appetite often dips before anything else shows.

Homes here often have more space and independent plots, which gives a African Grey Parrot room to move and settle in comfortably. With more room to work with, the routine can stay informal, though it should still be regular.

The first week

Expect a quiet few days. Most birds eat less and sleep more while they settle. Keep the food the same as before the move, introduce the household gradually rather than all at once, and hold off on visitors for a bit.
