Exercise and routine through the long monsoon in Boriguma

Build the day around local conditions rather than a figure from a breed chart. In Boriguma, the sea-influenced humidity makes ventilation and dry bedding important, which makes timing the variable that matters. Several brief outings suit this size better than one long one. Keep bedding dry and the resting area well-ventilated, especially during the monsoon.

The first week

The first week is about routine, not excitement. Feed at consistent times, let the bird approach people in its own time rather than being passed around, and keep the diet unchanged at first.

Grooming and coat care in Boriguma

Let the weather set the schedule, not the calendar. With the sea-influenced humidity makes ventilation and dry bedding important, a Budgies's coat and skin want checking more often through the long monsoon. On a smaller coat, irritation shows up well before matting does. Brush regularly — humidity makes mats and tangles form faster in longer coats.

Summer here peaks in April at about 37°C. That is manageable for a Budgies: keep activity to the cooler ends of the day and a shaded, ventilated spot indoors.

Winters are cool rather than cold, with December nights around 11°C. A light sweater helps a tiny Budgies on the coldest nights.

The rainy season runs from June to September, and August is usually the wettest month. Keep the cage out of damp corners and change the paper daily.

For a new Budgies bird, the easiest months to arrive are February, March, October and November: not too hot, not too wet, and warm enough at night.
