Exercise and routine through the long monsoon in Jakhapura

The long monsoon is the stretch that needs planning. Moisture in the air can encourage skin and ear issues if grooming slips, so keep sessions short and frequent. Consistency does more for a Yellow Naped Amazon than intensity ever will. Brush regularly — humidity makes mats and tangles form faster in longer coats.

Jakhapura is hottest in April, averaging 40°C in the afternoon, and stays above 38°C from April to May. A Yellow Naped Amazon needs real protection from that: a cage well away from windows and direct sun, a shallow bath dish, and a room that stays under about 32°C.

Winters are mild, with January nights around 13°C, so cold is not a concern.

The rainy season runs from June to October, and August is usually the wettest month. Keep the cage out of damp corners and change the paper daily.

For a new Yellow Naped Amazon bird, the easiest months to arrive are November to February: not too hot, not too wet, and warm enough at night.
