Space and the outdoors with a Blue Sided

Homes around Poornagiri usually come with their own ground, which takes the pressure off a formal exercise plan. A small-sized breed manages this well when the outdoor time is genuinely regular.

The first week

The first week is about routine, not excitement. Feed at consistent times, let the bird approach people in its own time rather than being passed around, and keep the diet unchanged at first.

Grooming and coat care in Poornagiri

The aim is dry, clean skin — appearance comes second. Poornagiri being cold mountain, winters get genuinely cold, so warmth and joint care take priority, so a regular brush prevents most of what would otherwise become a vet visit. Check paws for cracking and ice between toes during the coldest months.

Living with a Blue Sided in Poornagiri

Homes here often have more space and independent plots, which gives a Blue Sided room to move and settle in comfortably. Owners across North India tend to find this bird a family friendly, good with kids companion, and the settling-in is usually easier than the first week suggests.

Feeding a small bird here

Feed age-appropriate food matched to a small build, and change brands gradually rather than overnight. In cold mountain conditions water matters as much as food — winters get genuinely cold, so warmth and joint care take priority, and appetite often dips before anything else shows.

Poornagiri is hottest in May, averaging 41°C in the afternoon, and stays above 38°C from May to June. A Blue Sided needs real protection from that: a cage well away from windows and direct sun, a shallow bath dish, and a room that stays under about 32°C.

Winters are cool rather than cold, with January nights around 8°C. A light sweater helps a small Blue Sided on the coldest nights.

The rainy season runs from June to September, and July is usually the wettest month. Keep the cage out of damp corners and change the paper daily.

For a new Blue Sided bird, the easiest months to arrive in Poornagiri are March, October and November: not too hot, not too wet, and warm enough at night.
