Grooming a Scorpion in India is less about appearance than about catching problems early. Ten minutes with your hands in the coat finds the tick or the hot spot while it is still nothing.
Planning for about 6 years
A Scorpion is with you for about 6 years. Budget and routine both need to survive that, including the last quarter of it when a tiny animal needs more veterinary attention than it did young.
Never bathe in water
Unless a vet instructs it. A sand bath is how several of these species clean themselves.
What “solitary” means day to day
The Scorpion is described as solitary. Of those, solitary is the one that shapes an ordinary day most. It is easy to read as a selling point and harder to live with than the word suggests, because it does not switch off when you are busy.
The hot months
Coat thinning, hydration and protection from hot ground. A tiny animal will keep going past the point it should, so the limit has to come from you.
Coat and nails
A Scorpion needs brushing during a moult and nails checked periodically. Long-coated varieties mat quickly and need daily work.
The monsoon
Damp is the whole problem: fungal skin trouble, ear infections and bedding that never quite dries. A drying routine that is actually followed prevents most of it.
A breed from Exotic species, living in India
The Scorpion was developed in Exotic species. The part that travels badly is rarely temperament - it is the coat and the tolerance for heat. Plan the year around that and most of the rest follows.
