Exercise and daily routine in New Delhi

Outdoor time has to be scheduled in a city like New Delhi, not assumed. What a large Rottweiler Puppy really wants is predictability — the same walk times each day, kept to the cooler hours through the peak summer and winter swings. Two shorter outings tend to work better here than one long one.

Rottweiler Puppy and New Delhi's climate

This is the part most new owners underestimate. New Delhi is hot-summer / cool-winter — the climate swings from hot summers to cool winters, so care changes with the season — and for a large dog that is the single biggest practical factor. Bigger breeds hold more body heat and tire sooner here, so hard exertion belongs at the cooler ends of the day. Shift walks to early morning and late evening through the peak summer weeks.

Provide shade and constant water in summer; a warm bed and blanket in winter.

Look past the breed guide for a moment. New Delhi is hot-summer / cool-winter, the climate swings from hot summers to cool winters, so care changes with the season, and flats are the norm. Put those together and a large breed needs both a planned indoor routine and dependable time outside. That combination, not the breed standard, is what owners here actually live with. The first week

Settling in takes a few days. Reduced appetite and extra sleeping are normal. Keep the diet unchanged at first, keep introductions calm and gradual, and follow the vaccination schedule supplied with the pet. We remain available through the settling-in period.

Feeding and daily routine

Set meal times and stick to them; free-feeding makes it hard to notice when a pet goes off its food. Change diet slowly and only after the pet has settled. New Delhi's climate means the climate swings from hot summers to cool winters, so care changes with the season, so hydration deserves attention. Provide shade and constant water in summer; a warm bed and blanket in winter.

Why more families across North India are choosing pets

Demand across North India is consistently strong. Metro households like those in New Delhi tend toward smaller, indoor-friendly breeds. Either way, matching the pet to the home matters more than picking a popular breed.

Costs beyond the purchase

Plan for the running costs, not just the one-off. Boosters, deworming, food, grooming and the occasional vet visit are the ongoing commitment. Metro clinics and supplies are easy to reach in New Delhi.

Which kind of pet suits New Delhi

Dogs, cats and exotic birds all do well in New Delhi, but they ask for different things. A dog needs daily outdoor time, which is easier to plan around New Delhi's hot-summer / cool-winter conditions if walks are kept to the cooler ends of the day. Cats suit households that are out for long stretches. Birds need stable temperatures and no draughts. Keep deworming and vaccination on schedule — seasonal changes can stress the immune system.

Preparing the home in New Delhi

Most homes here are apartments and gated flats, so a medium-sized breed that adapts to indoor living is a practical choice. Before the pet arrives, set aside a quiet corner away from through-traffic, sort out bedding, bowls and a carrier, and agree who is responsible for feeding and walks. Provide shade and constant water in summer; a warm bed and blanket in winter.

Common mistakes to avoid

Avoid choosing on looks alone, overestimating how much exercise the household can realistically provide, and rushing a diet change. In New Delhi, also plan around the peak summer and winter swings rather than assuming a year-round routine. Keep deworming and vaccination on schedule — seasonal changes can stress the immune system.
