Health and vet care in Guwahati

Preventive care in Guwahati is largely a matter of anticipating the extended rainy season. Parasite control and skin checks earn their keep here more than they would elsewhere. The vaccination record travels with the puppy; staying on schedule is the single best habit there is. Keep a dry, raised resting area — prolonged damp leads to skin and paw problems.

Flats are the norm in Guwahati, so indoor enrichment carries real weight — puzzle feeders, chew toys, and a resting spot away from through-traffic. A medium-sized breed manages this well when the outdoor time is genuinely regular.

Feeding a medium dog here

Diet is simpler than most guides make it. Good food suited to a medium frame, fixed mealtimes, and any change phased in over a week. Because the green, rainy climate is mild but demands dry shelter and grooming discipline, keep water available and watch intake through the extended rainy season.

Summer in Guwahati peaks in June at about 34°C. That is manageable for a Border Collie, but watch it closely because its double coat holds heat close to the body: keep activity to the cooler ends of the day and a shaded, ventilated spot indoors.

Winters are cool rather than cold, with January nights around 10°C.

The rainy season runs from April to September, and June is usually the wettest month. Check for ticks after every walk; dry the coat right down to the skin after it gets wet, or it can develop skin infections.
