Feeding a large dog here

Feed age-appropriate food matched to a large build, and change brands gradually rather than overnight. In moderate Deccan conditions water matters as much as food — comfortable temperatures for most of the year make routine care straightforward, and appetite often dips before anything else shows.

The first week

Expect a quiet few days. Most puppies eat less and sleep more while they settle. Keep the food the same as before the move, introduce the household gradually rather than all at once, and hold off on visitors for a bit.

Space and the outdoors with a Kanni Puppy

Homes around Madhugiri usually come with their own ground, which takes the pressure off a formal exercise plan. A breed this size needs that outdoor time to be dependable, not occasional.

Winters are mild, with January nights around 14°C, so cold is not a concern.

There is no long rainy season; what rain there is falls mostly in September.

For a new Kanni puppy, the easiest months to arrive are January, February, May, June, July, August, November and December: not too hot, not too wet, and warm enough at night.
