Living with a Kanni Puppy in Theni

Exercise and routine through the long monsoon in Theni

The long monsoon is the stretch that needs planning. The air stays humid through much of the year, so coat and skin care need attention, so split the activity across two cooler outings rather than one long session. Consistency does more for a Kanni Puppy than intensity ever will. Brush regularly — humidity makes mats and tangles form faster in longer coats.

Grooming and coat care in Theni

The aim is dry, clean skin — appearance comes second. Theni being coastal tropical, the air stays humid through much of the year, so coat and skin care need attention, so a regular brush prevents most of what would otherwise become a vet visit. Brush regularly — humidity makes mats and tangles form faster in longer coats.

Space and the outdoors with a Kanni Puppy

Homes around Theni usually come with their own ground, which takes the pressure off a formal exercise plan. A breed this size needs that outdoor time to be dependable, not occasional.

Feeding a large dog here

Diet is simpler than most guides make it. Good food suited to a large frame, fixed mealtimes, and any change phased in over a week. Because the air stays humid through much of the year, so coat and skin care need attention, keep water available and watch intake through the long monsoon.

Summer here peaks in April at about 36°C. That is manageable for a Kanni, but watch it closely because a large body sheds heat slowly: keep activity to the cooler ends of the day and a shaded, ventilated spot indoors.

Winters stay warm, with even January nights around 18°C, so there is no cold season to plan for.

The rainy season runs from October to November, and October is usually the wettest month. Check for ticks after every walk.

For a new Kanni puppy, the easiest months to arrive are January, February, June, July, August and December: not too hot, not too wet, and warm enough at night.
