Health and vet care in Kollam

Preventive care in Kollam is largely a matter of anticipating the long monsoon. Parasite control and skin checks earn their keep here more than they would elsewhere. The vaccination record travels with the puppy; staying on schedule is the single best habit there is. Brush regularly — humidity makes mats and tangles form faster in longer coats.

Grooming and coat care in Kollam

The aim is dry, clean skin — appearance comes second. Kollam being warm and humid, the air stays humid through much of the year, so coat and skin care need attention, so a regular brush prevents most of what would otherwise become a vet visit. Keep bedding dry and the resting area well-ventilated, especially during the monsoon.

With independent houses common, there is usually room for a large-sized breed to exercise at home. With more room to work with, the routine can stay informal, though it should still be regular.

Summer here peaks in March at about 35°C. That is manageable for a Kanni, but watch it closely because a large body sheds heat slowly: keep activity to the cooler ends of the day and a shaded, ventilated spot indoors.

Winters stay warm, with even January nights around 21°C, so there is no cold season to plan for.

The rainy season runs from May to November, and October is usually the wettest month. Check for ticks after every walk.

For a new Kanni puppy, the easiest months to arrive are December to February: not too hot, not too wet, and warm enough at night.
