The first week

Expect a quiet few days. Most puppies eat less and sleep more while they settle. Keep the food the same as before the move, introduce the household gradually rather than all at once, and hold off on visitors for a bit.

Space and the outdoors with a Kanni Puppy

Homes around Kamptee usually come with their own ground, which takes the pressure off a formal exercise plan. A breed this size needs that outdoor time to be dependable, not occasional.

Is the Kanni Puppy right for Kamptee?

Start with the weather, not the breed standard. Here the sea-influenced humidity makes ventilation and dry bedding important, and a large-sized dog feels that more than an owner expects. The Kanni Puppy adapts well to Kamptee on a sensible routine — shorter outings, timed away from the midday heat. Brush regularly — humidity makes mats and tangles form faster in longer coats.

Feeding a large dog here

Diet is simpler than most guides make it. Good food suited to a large frame, fixed mealtimes, and any change phased in over a week. Because the sea-influenced humidity makes ventilation and dry bedding important, keep water available and watch intake through the long monsoon.

Living with a Kanni Puppy in Kamptee

Larger plots and open surroundings make this a comfortable setting for an active Kanni Puppy. Owners in western India tend to find this dog a loyal, shy, alert companion, and the settling-in is usually easier than the first week suggests.

Kamptee is hottest in May, averaging 44°C in the afternoon, and stays above 38°C from April to May. A Kanni needs real protection from that because a large body sheds heat slowly: walks before 8 am and after 7 pm, a cool tiled floor or a cooler in the afternoons, fresh water in more than one place, and never a parked car.

Winters are cool rather than cold, with December nights around 12°C. A Kanni has a short, thin coat, so a light sweater helps on the coldest nights.

The rainy season runs from June to September, and July is usually the wettest month. Check for ticks after every walk.

For a new Kanni puppy, the easiest months to arrive are February, October and November: not too hot, not too wet, and warm enough at night.
