Exercise and routine through the extended rainy season in Ri Bhoi

The extended rainy season is the stretch that needs planning. The green, rainy climate is mild but demands dry shelter and grooming discipline, so keep sessions short and frequent. Consistency does more for a Border Collie Puppy than intensity ever will. Keep a dry, raised resting area — prolonged damp leads to skin and paw problems.

Is the Border Collie Puppy right for Ri Bhoi?

Ri Bhoi is monsoon-heavy — the green, rainy climate is mild but demands dry shelter and grooming discipline — and the Border Collie Puppy is a medium-sized, family friendly, good with kids breed. Those two facts decide most of what daily life looks like here. A breed this size copes well, provided shade and water are always within reach. Ensure good airflow indoors to keep the coat and bedding from staying damp.

Living with a Border Collie Puppy in Ri Bhoi

Homes here often have more space and independent plots, which gives a Border Collie Puppy room to move and settle in comfortably. With more room to work with, the routine can stay informal, though it should still be regular.

Feeding a medium dog here

Diet is simpler than most guides make it. Good food suited to a medium frame, fixed mealtimes, and any change phased in over a week. Because the green, rainy climate is mild but demands dry shelter and grooming discipline, keep water available and watch intake through the extended rainy season.

The first week

Expect a quiet few days. Most puppies eat less and sleep more while they settle. Keep the food the same as before the move, introduce the household gradually rather than all at once, and hold off on visitors for a bit.

Summer here peaks in June at about 32°C. That is manageable for a Border Collie, but watch it closely because its double coat holds heat close to the body: keep activity to the cooler ends of the day and a shaded, ventilated spot indoors.

Winters are cool rather than cold, with January nights around 8°C.

The rainy season runs from April to September, and June is usually the wettest month. Check for ticks after every walk; dry the coat right down to the skin after it gets wet, or it can develop skin infections.

For a new Border Collie puppy, the easiest months to arrive are November to March: not too hot, not too wet, and warm enough at night.
