Exercise and routine through the extended rainy season in Ri Bhoi

The extended rainy season is the stretch that needs planning. The green, rainy climate is mild but demands dry shelter and grooming discipline, so split the activity across two cooler outings rather than one long session. Consistency does more for a Saint Bernard Puppy than intensity ever will. Towel-dry after every walk in the rains and check between the toes for irritation.

The first week

Expect a quiet few days. Most puppies eat less and sleep more while they settle. Keep the food the same as before the move, introduce the household gradually rather than all at once, and hold off on visitors for a bit.

Larger plots and open surroundings make this a comfortable setting for an active Saint Bernard Puppy. With more room to work with, the routine can stay informal, though it should still be regular.

Is the Saint Bernard Puppy right for Ri Bhoi?

Start with the weather, not the breed standard. Here the green, rainy climate is mild but demands dry shelter and grooming discipline, and a giant-sized dog feels that more than an owner expects. The Saint Bernard Puppy adapts well to Ri Bhoi on a sensible routine — shorter outings, timed away from the midday heat. Maintain strict tick, flea and worm control, which peak in the wet season.

Health and vet care in Ri Bhoi

Preventive care in Ri Bhoi is largely a matter of anticipating the extended rainy season. Parasite control and skin checks earn their keep here more than they would elsewhere. The vaccination record travels with the puppy; staying on schedule is the single best habit there is. Towel-dry after every walk in the rains and check between the toes for irritation.

Summer here peaks in June at about 32°C. That is manageable for a Saint Bernard, but watch it closely because its double coat holds heat close to the body and a giant body sheds heat slowly: keep activity to the cooler ends of the day and a shaded, ventilated spot indoors.

Winters are cool rather than cold, with January nights around 8°C.

The rainy season runs from April to September, and June is usually the wettest month. Check for ticks after every walk; dry the coat right down to the skin after it gets wet, or it can develop skin infections; dry inside the ears after baths and rain, since droopy ears trap moisture.

For a new Saint Bernard puppy, the easiest months to arrive are November to March: not too hot, not too wet, and warm enough at night.
