Space and the outdoors with a Pug Puppy

Space is rarely the constraint here; the routine is what needs attention. For a charming, mischievous, loving dog the fit is usually good either way.

Grooming and coat care in Saipung

The aim is dry, clean skin — appearance comes second. Saipung being lush, wet tropical, near-constant moisture means skin, paw and bedding hygiene need real attention, so a regular brush prevents most of what would otherwise become a vet visit. Ensure good airflow indoors to keep the coat and bedding from staying damp.

The first week

The first week is about routine, not excitement. Feed at consistent times, let the puppy approach people in its own time rather than being passed around, and keep the diet unchanged at first.

Health and vet care in Saipung

Preventive care in Saipung is largely a matter of anticipating the extended rainy season. Parasite control and skin checks earn their keep here more than they would elsewhere. The vaccination record travels with the puppy; staying on schedule is the single best habit there is. Towel-dry after every walk in the rains and check between the toes for irritation.

Exercise and routine through the extended rainy season in Saipung

Consistency does more for a Pug Puppy than intensity ever will. Towel-dry after every walk in the rains and check between the toes for irritation.

The city sits at about 1,039 m above sea level, so it runs cooler than the plains around it.

Summers here are mild, peaking at about 26°C in May, so heat is rarely the problem for a Pug that it is on the plains.

Winter nights fall to about 5°C in January. A Pug feels that: bedding raised off the floor, a sweater or warm cover at night, and a room kept out of the draught.

The rainy season runs from April to September, and June is usually the wettest month. Check for ticks after every walk.

No month here is easy on every count for a Pug, so plan the first two weeks around a cool, dry room rather than the calendar.
