Feeding a large dog here

In lush, wet tropical conditions water matters as much as food — rainfall is among the highest in the country, so wet-weather care is essential, and appetite often dips before anything else shows.

Space and the outdoors with a Golden Retriever

Homes around Saptiqa usually come with their own ground, which takes the pressure off a formal exercise plan. A breed this size needs that outdoor time to be dependable, not occasional.

The city sits at about 912 m above sea level, so it runs cooler than the plains around it.

Summers here are mild, peaking at about 30°C in June, so heat is rarely the problem for a Golden Retriever that it is on the plains.

Winters are cool rather than cold, with January nights around 7°C.

The rainy season runs from May to September, and July is usually the wettest month. Check for ticks after every walk; dry the coat right down to the skin after it gets wet, or it can develop skin infections; dry inside the ears after baths and rain, since droopy ears trap moisture.

For a new Golden Retriever puppy, the easiest months to arrive are October to March: not too hot, not too wet, and warm enough at night.
