Feeding a large dog here

Diet is simpler than most guides make it. Good food suited to a large frame, fixed mealtimes, and any change phased in over a week. Because moisture in the air can encourage skin and ear issues if grooming slips, keep water available and watch intake through the long monsoon.

The first week

Expect a quiet few days. Most puppies eat less and sleep more while they settle. Keep the food the same as before the move, introduce the household gradually rather than all at once, and hold off on visitors for a bit.

Exercise and routine through the long monsoon in Choudwar

The long monsoon is the stretch that needs planning. Moisture in the air can encourage skin and ear issues if grooming slips, so split the activity across two cooler outings rather than one long session. Consistency does more for a Kanni Puppy than intensity ever will. Stay current on tick and flea prevention, which thrive in warm, damp conditions.

Living with a Kanni Puppy in Choudwar

With independent houses common, there is usually room for a large-sized breed to exercise at home. Owners across the eastern region tend to find this dog a loyal, shy, alert companion, and the settling-in is usually easier than the first week suggests.

Grooming and coat care in Choudwar

The aim is dry, clean skin — appearance comes second. Choudwar being warm and humid, moisture in the air can encourage skin and ear issues if grooming slips, so a regular brush prevents most of what would otherwise become a vet visit. Brush regularly — humidity makes mats and tangles form faster in longer coats.

Choudwar is hottest in April, averaging 40°C in the afternoon, and stays above 38°C from April to May. A Kanni needs real protection from that because a large body sheds heat slowly: walks before 8 am and after 7 pm, a cool tiled floor or a cooler in the afternoons, fresh water in more than one place, and never a parked car.

Winters are mild, with January nights around 13°C, so cold is not a concern.

The rainy season runs from June to October, and July is usually the wettest month. Check for ticks after every walk.

For a new Kanni puppy, the easiest months to arrive are November to February: not too hot, not too wet, and warm enough at night.
