Feeding a large dog here

Feed age-appropriate food matched to a large build, and change brands gradually rather than overnight. In warm and humid conditions water matters as much as food — the air stays humid through much of the year, so coat and skin care need attention, and appetite often dips before anything else shows.

Is the Kanni Puppy right for Jharigan?

The Kanni Puppy does well in Jharigan, with one caveat worth knowing up front: the air stays humid through much of the year, so coat and skin care need attention. For a loyal, shy, alert, large-sized breed that mostly changes when things happen rather than what happens. Keep bedding dry and the resting area well-ventilated, especially during the monsoon.

Space and the outdoors with a Kanni Puppy

Space is rarely the constraint here; the routine is what needs attention. For a loyal, shy, alert dog the fit is usually good either way.

Health and vet care in Jharigan

Local climate decides which problems actually turn up. Given the air stays humid through much of the year, so coat and skin care need attention, the recurring ones here are skin and coat trouble, parasites and hydration — not the whole textbook. Keep vaccination and deworming on schedule, and book the check before the long monsoon rather than during it. Brush regularly — humidity makes mats and tangles form faster in longer coats.

Living with a Kanni Puppy in Jharigan

Homes here often have more space and independent plots, which gives a Kanni Puppy room to move and settle in comfortably. With more room to work with, the routine can stay informal, though it should still be regular.

Jharigan is hottest in May, averaging 38°C in the afternoon. A Kanni needs real protection from that because a large body sheds heat slowly: walks before 8 am and after 7 pm, a cool tiled floor or a cooler in the afternoons, fresh water in more than one place, and never a parked car.

Winters are cool rather than cold, with January nights around 11°C. A Kanni has a short, thin coat, so a light sweater helps on the coldest nights.

The rainy season runs from June to September, and July is usually the wettest month. Check for ticks after every walk.

For a new Kanni puppy, the easiest months to arrive are February, March, October and November: not too hot, not too wet, and warm enough at night.
