Feeding a large dog here

Feed age-appropriate food matched to a large build, and change brands gradually rather than overnight. In moderate Deccan conditions water matters as much as food — comfortable temperatures for most of the year make routine care straightforward, and appetite often dips before anything else shows.

The first week

The first week is about routine, not excitement. Feed at consistent times, let the puppy approach people in its own time rather than being passed around, and keep the diet unchanged at first.

Health and vet care in Mulkalapally

Local climate decides which problems actually turn up. Given comfortable temperatures for most of the year make routine care straightforward, the recurring ones here are skin and coat trouble, parasites and hydration — not the whole textbook. Keep vaccination and deworming on schedule, and book the check before the brief pre-monsoon heat rather than during it. Take advantage of the mild weather with consistent daily walks and play.

Grooming and coat care in Mulkalapally

Let the weather set the schedule, not the calendar. With comfortable temperatures for most of the year make routine care straightforward, a Kanni Puppy's coat and skin want checking more often through the brief pre-monsoon heat. On a larger coat, matting and trapped moisture are what to catch early. Provide shade and water during the short hot spell before the monsoon.

Space and the outdoors with a Kanni Puppy

Space is rarely the constraint here; the routine is what needs attention. For a loyal, shy, alert dog the fit is usually good either way.

Mulkalapally is hottest in May, averaging 43°C in the afternoon, and stays above 38°C from March to May. A Kanni needs real protection from that because a large body sheds heat slowly: walks before 8 am and after 7 pm, a cool tiled floor or a cooler in the afternoons, fresh water in more than one place, and never a parked car.

Winters are mild, with December nights around 14°C, so cold is not a concern.

The rainy season runs from July to September, and August is usually the wettest month. Check for ticks after every walk.

For a new Kanni puppy, the easiest months to arrive are October to February: not too hot, not too wet, and warm enough at night.
