Grooming and coat care in East Khasi Hills

Let the weather set the schedule, not the calendar. With rainfall is among the highest in the country, so wet-weather care is essential, a African Grey Parrot's coat and skin want checking more often through the extended rainy season. On a smaller coat, irritation shows up well before matting does. Ensure good airflow indoors to keep the coat and bedding from staying damp.

The first week

The first week is about routine, not excitement. Feed at consistent times, let the bird approach people in its own time rather than being passed around, and keep the diet unchanged at first.

Feeding a medium bird here

Diet is simpler than most guides make it. Good food suited to a medium frame, fixed mealtimes, and any change phased in over a week. Because rainfall is among the highest in the country, so wet-weather care is essential, keep water available and watch intake through the extended rainy season.
