Thelkoloi is hottest in May, averaging 43°C in the afternoon, and stays above 38°C from April to May. A Hahn's Macaw needs real protection from that: a cage well away from windows and direct sun, a shallow bath dish, and a room that stays under about 32°C.

Winters are cool rather than cold, with January nights around 11°C. A light sweater helps a small Hahn's Macaw on the coldest nights.

The rainy season runs from June to September, and July is usually the wettest month. Keep the cage out of damp corners and change the paper daily.

For a new Hahn's Macaw bird, the easiest months to arrive are February, October and November: not too hot, not too wet, and warm enough at night.
