Space and the outdoors with a Bombay Kittens

Homes around Devikulam usually come with their own ground, which takes the pressure off a formal exercise plan. A medium-sized breed manages this well when the outdoor time is genuinely regular.

Exercise and routine through the long monsoon in Devikulam

Build the day around local conditions rather than a figure from a breed chart. In Devikulam, moisture in the air can encourage skin and ear issues if grooming slips, which makes timing the variable that matters. Several brief outings suit this size better than one long one. Keep bedding dry and the resting area well-ventilated, especially during the monsoon.

The first week

Expect a quiet few days. Most kittens eat less and sleep more while they settle. Keep the food the same as before the move, introduce the household gradually rather than all at once, and hold off on visitors for a bit.

Feeding a medium cat here

Diet is simpler than most guides make it. Good food suited to a medium frame, fixed mealtimes, and any change phased in over a week. Because moisture in the air can encourage skin and ear issues if grooming slips, keep water available and watch intake through the long monsoon.

Is the Bombay Kittens right for Devikulam?

Start with the weather, not the breed standard. Here moisture in the air can encourage skin and ear issues if grooming slips, and a medium-sized cat feels that more than an owner expects. The Bombay Kittens adapts well to Devikulam on a sensible routine — steady hydration and shade rather than reduced activity. Dry the coat and ears thoroughly after baths or rain to prevent fungal and skin issues.

The city sits at about 1,594 m above sea level, so it runs cooler than the plains around it.

Summers here are mild, peaking at about 26°C in March, so heat is rarely the problem for a Bombay that it is on the plains.

Winters are cool rather than cold, with January nights around 10°C.

The rainy season runs from May to November, and June is usually the wettest month. Dry the coat right down to the skin after it gets wet, or it can develop skin infections.

For a new Bombay kitten, the easiest months to arrive are December to April: not too hot, not too wet, and warm enough at night.
