How Cash on Delivery Verification Works
A quick, secure, one-time check — usually 3–5 minutes
To protect buyers and our animals from fake orders, every 100% Cash on Delivery order on Nearby Pets India needs a one-time identity verification before it is confirmed. You pay nothing online — the full amount is paid in cash at your doorstep. Here is exactly what to do, step by step.
Getting there
Choose Cash on Delivery
On the pet's page (or at checkout) select Cash on Delivery and tap Continue with Cash on Delivery. This opens the guided verification page. If you are not signed in, we first verify your mobile number with a one-time code (OTP).
COD is available only in our serviceable cities and for orders between ₹5,000 and ₹65,000 (including shipping).
The verification steps
Share your delivery location
Tap Share my location and allow location access. This confirms your delivery address is within a serviceable area. If your browser blocks it, enable location for this site and try again.
Verify your identity with DigiLocker (Aadhaar)
Tap Verify with DigiLocker. You will be taken to the Government of India's DigiLocker, where you sign in with your Aadhaar number + OTP — no DigiLocker account is needed. Approve the consent to share your Aadhaar.
We only receive your name, a masked reference and the last 4 digits of your Aadhaar — never the full number. You are returned to the verification page automatically.
Employment / business details only if asked
If this step appears, confirm either your work email (we send an OTP to verify it) or your business GST / trade name. If your delivery area is different from your Aadhaar address, you may also be asked to upload a current address proof (rent agreement, electricity or broadband bill) as a PDF or photo.
Face verification (selfie)
Take a live selfie in good light. We match it to your DigiLocker Aadhaar photo to confirm it's really you. On a laptop without a camera, choose "No camera? Use my phone" to scan a QR code (or get the link by email) and finish the selfie on your phone — the desktop updates automatically.
Record a short video consent only if asked
If this step appears, record a brief video reading the on-screen consent in your preferred language, confirming the order and that the Aadhaar and e-Sign are your own. It is attached to your order.
Review & e-Sign the agreement
Review your order and delivery address. You pay nothing now. Tap Place order & e-Sign — you will complete a legally valid Aadhaar e-Sign (an OTP to your Aadhaar-linked mobile) on the Cash-on-Delivery agreement and policies.
What happens after you finish
- Your order is placed and marked "Under Verification" while our team reviews it.
- Our staff will reach you (call / WhatsApp / email / video) to finalise your pet selection.
- At pickup, our staff does a recorded video call — the same verified pet is the one delivered to you.
- On delivery, you check the pet and pay the full amount in cash at your doorstep.
