The first week

The first week is about routine, not excitement. Feed at consistent times, let the puppy approach people in its own time rather than being passed around, and keep the diet unchanged at first.

Grooming and coat care in Dhone

The aim is dry, clean skin — appearance comes second. Dhone being coastal tropical, the sea-influenced humidity makes ventilation and dry bedding important, so a regular brush prevents most of what would otherwise become a vet visit. Stay current on tick and flea prevention, which thrive in warm, damp conditions.

Living with a Rajapalayam Puppy in Dhone

Larger plots and open surroundings make this a comfortable setting for an active Rajapalayam Puppy. Owners throughout peninsular India tend to find this dog a loyal, protective, alert companion, and the settling-in is usually easier than the first week suggests.

Health and vet care in Dhone

Local climate decides which problems actually turn up. Given the sea-influenced humidity makes ventilation and dry bedding important, the recurring ones here are skin and coat trouble, parasites and hydration — not the whole textbook. Keep vaccination and deworming on schedule, and book the check before the long monsoon rather than during it. Brush regularly — humidity makes mats and tangles form faster in longer coats.

Exercise and routine through the long monsoon in Dhone

The long monsoon is the stretch that needs planning. The sea-influenced humidity makes ventilation and dry bedding important, so split the activity across two cooler outings rather than one long session. Consistency does more for a Rajapalayam Puppy than intensity ever will. Brush regularly — humidity makes mats and tangles form faster in longer coats.

Dhone is hottest in April, averaging 40°C in the afternoon, and stays above 38°C from April to May. A Rajapalayam needs real protection from that because a large body sheds heat slowly: walks before 8 am and after 7 pm, a cool tiled floor or a cooler in the afternoons, fresh water in more than one place, and never a parked car.

Winters are mild, with December nights around 15°C, so cold is not a concern.

Most of the year's rain falls in September. Check for ticks after every walk.

For a new Rajapalayam puppy, the easiest months to arrive are January, February, June, July, August, October, November and December: not too hot, not too wet, and warm enough at night.
