Is the Greyhound Puppy right for Movva?

Movva is humid coastal — moisture in the air can encourage skin and ear issues if grooming slips — and the Greyhound Puppy is a large-sized, gentle, quiet, fast breed. Those two facts decide most of what daily life looks like here. A breed this size needs its hard exercise moved to the cooler hours. Keep bedding dry and the resting area well-ventilated, especially during the monsoon.

Feeding a large dog here

Diet is simpler than most guides make it. Good food suited to a large frame, fixed mealtimes, and any change phased in over a week. Because moisture in the air can encourage skin and ear issues if grooming slips, keep water available and watch intake through the long monsoon.

Exercise and routine through the long monsoon in Movva

The long monsoon is the stretch that needs planning. Moisture in the air can encourage skin and ear issues if grooming slips, so split the activity across two cooler outings rather than one long session. Consistency does more for a Greyhound Puppy than intensity ever will. Stay current on tick and flea prevention, which thrive in warm, damp conditions.

With independent houses common, there is usually room for a large-sized breed to exercise at home. Owners across South India tend to find this dog a gentle, quiet, fast companion, and the settling-in is usually easier than the first week suggests.

Summer here peaks in May at about 38°C. That is manageable for a Greyhound, but watch it closely because a large body sheds heat slowly: keep activity to the cooler ends of the day and a shaded, ventilated spot indoors.

Winters stay warm, with even January nights around 20°C, so there is no cold season to plan for.

The rainy season runs from July to October, and October is usually the wettest month. Check for ticks after every walk.

For a new Greyhound puppy, the easiest months to arrive are January, February, March, June, November and December: not too hot, not too wet, and warm enough at night.
