Health and vet care in Rajam

Local climate decides which problems actually turn up. Given the sea-influenced humidity makes ventilation and dry bedding important, the recurring ones here are skin and coat trouble, parasites and hydration — not the whole textbook. Keep vaccination and deworming on schedule, and book the check before the long monsoon rather than during it. Keep bedding dry and the resting area well-ventilated, especially during the monsoon.

The first week

The first week is about routine, not excitement. Feed at consistent times, let the puppy approach people in its own time rather than being passed around, and keep the diet unchanged at first.

Feeding a medium dog here

Diet is simpler than most guides make it. Good food suited to a medium frame, fixed mealtimes, and any change phased in over a week. Because the sea-influenced humidity makes ventilation and dry bedding important, keep water available and watch intake through the long monsoon.

Is the Doodle Puppy right for Rajam?

Rajam is coastal tropical — the sea-influenced humidity makes ventilation and dry bedding important — and the Doodle Puppy is a medium-sized, friendly, intelligent, playful breed. Those two facts decide most of what daily life looks like here. A breed this size copes well, provided shade and water are always within reach. Keep bedding dry and the resting area well-ventilated, especially during the monsoon.

Summer here peaks in May at about 34°C. That is manageable for a Doodle: keep activity to the cooler ends of the day and a shaded, ventilated spot indoors.

Winters stay warm, with even January nights around 20°C, so there is no cold season to plan for.

The rainy season runs from June to October, and September is usually the wettest month. Check for ticks after every walk.

For a new Doodle puppy, the easiest months to arrive are November to May: not too hot, not too wet, and warm enough at night.
