The first week

Expect a quiet few days. Most puppies eat less and sleep more while they settle. Keep the food the same as before the move, introduce the household gradually rather than all at once, and hold off on visitors for a bit.

Grooming and coat care in Mayong

The aim is dry, clean skin — appearance comes second. Mayong being monsoon-heavy, near-constant moisture means skin, paw and bedding hygiene need real attention, so a regular brush prevents most of what would otherwise become a vet visit. Keep a dry, raised resting area — prolonged damp leads to skin and paw problems.

Space and the outdoors with a Dachshund Puppy

Homes around Mayong usually come with their own ground, which takes the pressure off a formal exercise plan. A medium-sized breed manages this well when the outdoor time is genuinely regular.

Living with a Dachshund Puppy in Mayong

With independent houses common, there is usually room for a medium-sized breed to exercise at home. Owners in the region's hills tend to find this dog a family friendly, good with kids companion, and the settling-in is usually easier than the first week suggests.

Exercise and routine through the extended rainy season in Mayong

The extended rainy season is the stretch that needs planning. Near-constant moisture means skin, paw and bedding hygiene need real attention, so keep sessions short and frequent. Consistency does more for a Dachshund Puppy than intensity ever will. Ensure good airflow indoors to keep the coat and bedding from staying damp.

Summer here peaks in June at about 32°C. That is manageable for a Dachshund: keep activity to the cooler ends of the day and a shaded, ventilated spot indoors.

Winters are cool rather than cold, with January nights around 8°C. A Dachshund has a short, thin coat, so a light sweater helps on the coldest nights.

The rainy season runs from April to September, and June is usually the wettest month. Check for ticks after every walk; dry inside the ears after baths and rain, since droopy ears trap moisture.

For a new Dachshund puppy, the easiest months to arrive are March and November: not too hot, not too wet, and warm enough at night.
