Feeding a large dog here

Feed age-appropriate food matched to a large build, and change brands gradually rather than overnight. In monsoon-heavy conditions water matters as much as food — rainfall is among the highest in the country, so wet-weather care is essential, and appetite often dips before anything else shows.

Grooming and coat care in North Guwahati

The aim is dry, clean skin — appearance comes second. North Guwahati being monsoon-heavy, rainfall is among the highest in the country, so wet-weather care is essential, so a regular brush prevents most of what would otherwise become a vet visit. Towel-dry after every walk in the rains and check between the toes for irritation.

The first week

Expect a quiet few days. Most puppies eat less and sleep more while they settle. Keep the food the same as before the move, introduce the household gradually rather than all at once, and hold off on visitors for a bit.

Exercise and routine through the extended rainy season in North Guwahati

Summer here peaks in June at about 34°C. That is manageable for a American Bully XL Size, but watch it closely because its short muzzle makes panting less effective at shedding heat and a large body sheds heat slowly: keep activity to the cooler ends of the day and a shaded, ventilated spot indoors.

Winters are cool rather than cold, with January nights around 10°C.

The rainy season runs from April to September, and June is usually the wettest month. Check for ticks after every walk.

For a new American Bully XL Size puppy, the easiest months to arrive are November to March: not too hot, not too wet, and warm enough at night.
