Exercise and routine through the extended rainy season in Raha

Build the day around local conditions rather than a figure from a breed chart. In Raha, near-constant moisture means skin, paw and bedding hygiene need real attention, which makes timing the variable that matters. Two shorter outings work better here for a breed this size. Towel-dry after every walk in the rains and check between the toes for irritation.

Is the Pointer Puppy right for Raha?

Raha is monsoon-heavy — near-constant moisture means skin, paw and bedding hygiene need real attention — and the Pointer Puppy is a large-sized, loyal, loving, confident breed. Those two facts decide most of what daily life looks like here. A breed this size needs its hard exercise moved to the cooler hours. Maintain strict tick, flea and worm control, which peak in the wet season.

Living with a Pointer Puppy in Raha

With independent houses common, there is usually room for a large-sized breed to exercise at home. Owners in the region's hills tend to find this dog a loyal, loving, confident companion, and the settling-in is usually easier than the first week suggests.

Health and vet care in Raha

Local climate decides which problems actually turn up. Given near-constant moisture means skin, paw and bedding hygiene need real attention, the recurring ones here are skin and coat trouble, parasites and hydration — not the whole textbook. Keep vaccination and deworming on schedule, and book the check before the extended rainy season rather than during it. Towel-dry after every walk in the rains and check between the toes for irritation.

Space and the outdoors with a Pointer Puppy

Homes around Raha usually come with their own ground, which takes the pressure off a formal exercise plan. A breed this size needs that outdoor time to be dependable, not occasional.

Summer here peaks in May at about 34°C. That is manageable for a Pointer, but watch it closely because a large body sheds heat slowly: keep activity to the cooler ends of the day and a shaded, ventilated spot indoors.

Winters are cool rather than cold, with January nights around 10°C. A Pointer has a short, thin coat, so a light sweater helps on the coldest nights.

The rainy season runs from April to September, and June is usually the wettest month. Check for ticks after every walk; dry inside the ears after baths and rain, since droopy ears trap moisture.

For a new Pointer puppy, the easiest months to arrive are February, March, October, November and December: not too hot, not too wet, and warm enough at night.
