Health and vet care in Rangia

Local climate decides which problems actually turn up. Given rainfall is among the highest in the country, so wet-weather care is essential, the recurring ones here are skin and coat trouble, parasites and hydration — not the whole textbook. Keep vaccination and deworming on schedule, and book the check before the extended rainy season rather than during it. Maintain strict tick, flea and worm control, which peak in the wet season.

Is the Pointer Puppy right for Rangia?

Start with the weather, not the breed standard. Here rainfall is among the highest in the country, so wet-weather care is essential, and a large-sized dog feels that more than an owner expects. The Pointer Puppy adapts well to Rangia on a sensible routine — shorter outings, timed away from the midday heat. Maintain strict tick, flea and worm control, which peak in the wet season.

Feeding a large dog here

Diet is simpler than most guides make it. Good food suited to a large frame, fixed mealtimes, and any change phased in over a week. Because rainfall is among the highest in the country, so wet-weather care is essential, keep water available and watch intake through the extended rainy season.

The first week

Expect a quiet few days. Most puppies eat less and sleep more while they settle. Keep the food the same as before the move, introduce the household gradually rather than all at once, and hold off on visitors for a bit.

Exercise and routine through the extended rainy season in Rangia

Build the day around local conditions rather than a figure from a breed chart. In Rangia, rainfall is among the highest in the country, so wet-weather care is essential, which makes timing the variable that matters. Two shorter outings work better here for a breed this size. Maintain strict tick, flea and worm control, which peak in the wet season.

Summer here peaks in June at about 33°C. That is manageable for a Pointer, but watch it closely because a large body sheds heat slowly: keep activity to the cooler ends of the day and a shaded, ventilated spot indoors.

Winters are cool rather than cold, with January nights around 11°C. A Pointer has a short, thin coat, so a light sweater helps on the coldest nights.

The rainy season runs from April to September, and June is usually the wettest month. Check for ticks after every walk; dry inside the ears after baths and rain, since droopy ears trap moisture.

For a new Pointer puppy, the easiest months to arrive are February, March, October, November and December: not too hot, not too wet, and warm enough at night.
