Feeding a medium dog here

Diet is simpler than most guides make it. Good food suited to a medium frame, fixed mealtimes, and any change phased in over a week. Because rainfall is among the highest in the country, so wet-weather care is essential, keep water available and watch intake through the extended rainy season.

Grooming and coat care in Subansiri (Pt-I)

The aim is dry, clean skin — appearance comes second. Subansiri (Pt-I) being monsoon-heavy, rainfall is among the highest in the country, so wet-weather care is essential, so a regular brush prevents most of what would otherwise become a vet visit. Towel-dry after every walk in the rains and check between the toes for irritation.

Summer here peaks in June at about 32°C. That is manageable for a Dachshund: keep activity to the cooler ends of the day and a shaded, ventilated spot indoors.

Winters are cool rather than cold, with January nights around 11°C. A Dachshund has a short, thin coat, so a light sweater helps on the coldest nights.

The rainy season runs from April to September, and July is usually the wettest month. Check for ticks after every walk; dry inside the ears after baths and rain, since droopy ears trap moisture.

For a new Dachshund puppy, the easiest months to arrive are February, March, October, November and December: not too hot, not too wet, and warm enough at night.
