Is the German Spitz Puppy right for Kelhari?

Start with the weather, not the breed standard. Here the climate swings from hot summers to cool winters, so care changes with the season, and a small-sized dog feels that more than an owner expects. The German Spitz Puppy adapts well to Kelhari on a sensible routine — steady hydration and shade rather than reduced activity. Shift walks to early morning and late evening through the peak summer weeks.

The first week

The first week is about routine, not excitement. Feed at consistent times, let the puppy approach people in its own time rather than being passed around, and keep the diet unchanged at first.

Grooming and coat care in Kelhari

The aim is dry, clean skin — appearance comes second. Kelhari being hot-summer / cool-winter, the climate swings from hot summers to cool winters, so care changes with the season, so a regular brush prevents most of what would otherwise become a vet visit. Shift walks to early morning and late evening through the peak summer weeks.

Feeding a small dog here

Feed age-appropriate food matched to a small build, and change brands gradually rather than overnight. In hot-summer / cool-winter conditions water matters as much as food — the climate swings from hot summers to cool winters, so care changes with the season, and appetite often dips before anything else shows.

Health and vet care in Kelhari

Local climate decides which problems actually turn up. Given the climate swings from hot summers to cool winters, so care changes with the season, the recurring ones here are skin and coat trouble, parasites and hydration — not the whole textbook. Keep vaccination and deworming on schedule, and book the check before the peak summer and winter swings rather than during it. Provide shade and constant water in summer; a warm bed and blanket in winter.

Kelhari is hottest in May, averaging 41°C in the afternoon, and stays above 38°C from April to May. A German Spitz needs real protection from that: walks before 8 am and after 7 pm, a cool tiled floor or a cooler in the afternoons, fresh water in more than one place, and never a parked car.

Winters are cool rather than cold, with January nights around 8°C. A light sweater helps a small German Spitz on the coldest nights.

The rainy season runs from June to September, and July is usually the wettest month. Check for ticks after every walk.

For a new German Spitz puppy, the easiest months to arrive are March, October and November: not too hot, not too wet, and warm enough at night.
