Is the Newfoundland Puppy right for Gurgaon?

Gurgaon is hot semi-desert — daytime temperatures climb high for much of the year, which shapes daily routines — and the Newfoundland Puppy is a giant-sized, gentle, patient, calm breed. Those two facts decide most of what daily life looks like here. A breed this size needs its hard exercise moved to the cooler hours. Walk early in the morning or after sunset when the ground is cool, never on hot pavement.

Feeding a giant dog here

Feed age-appropriate food matched to a giant build, and change brands gradually rather than overnight. In hot semi-desert conditions water matters as much as food — daytime temperatures climb high for much of the year, which shapes daily routines, and appetite often dips before anything else shows.

Grooming and coat care in Gurgaon

Let the weather set the schedule, not the calendar. With daytime temperatures climb high for much of the year, which shapes daily routines, a Newfoundland Puppy's coat and skin want checking more often through the dry summer months. On a larger coat, matting and trapped moisture are what to catch early. Walk early in the morning or after sunset when the ground is cool, never on hot pavement.

Flats are the norm in Gurgaon, so indoor enrichment carries real weight — puzzle feeders, chew toys, and a resting spot away from through-traffic. A breed this size needs that outdoor time to be dependable, not occasional.

Gurgaon is hottest in May, averaging 43°C in the afternoon, and stays above 38°C from April to June. A Newfoundland needs real protection from that because a giant body sheds heat slowly: walks before 8 am and after 7 pm, a cool tiled floor or a cooler in the afternoons, fresh water in more than one place, and never a parked car.

Winters are cool rather than cold, with January nights around 6°C.

The rainy season runs from July to August, and July is usually the wettest month. Check for ticks after every walk.

For a new Newfoundland puppy, the easiest months to arrive are February, March, September, October, November and December: not too hot, not too wet, and warm enough at night.
