Feeding a large dog here

Feed age-appropriate food matched to a large build, and change brands gradually rather than overnight. In hot-summer / cool-winter conditions water matters as much as food — extreme summer heat and a brisk winter both need planning across the year, and appetite often dips before anything else shows.

Is the Greyhound Puppy right for Dadi?

The Greyhound Puppy does well in Dadi, with one caveat worth knowing up front: extreme summer heat and a brisk winter both need planning across the year. For a gentle, quiet, fast, large-sized breed that mostly changes when things happen rather than what happens. Watch for seasonal coat shedding as temperatures change and brush accordingly.

Exercise and routine through the peak summer and winter swings in Dadi

The peak summer and winter swings is the stretch that needs planning. Extreme summer heat and a brisk winter both need planning across the year, so split the activity across two cooler outings rather than one long session. Consistency does more for a Greyhound Puppy than intensity ever will. Keep deworming and vaccination on schedule — seasonal changes can stress the immune system.

The first week

The first week is about routine, not excitement. Feed at consistent times, let the puppy approach people in its own time rather than being passed around, and keep the diet unchanged at first.

Grooming and coat care in Dadi

The aim is dry, clean skin — appearance comes second. Dadi being hot-summer / cool-winter, extreme summer heat and a brisk winter both need planning across the year, so a regular brush prevents most of what would otherwise become a vet visit. Watch for seasonal coat shedding as temperatures change and brush accordingly.

Dadi is hottest in May, averaging 40°C in the afternoon, and stays above 38°C from April to May. A Greyhound needs real protection from that because a large body sheds heat slowly: walks before 8 am and after 7 pm, a cool tiled floor or a cooler in the afternoons, fresh water in more than one place, and never a parked car.

Winters are cool rather than cold, with January nights around 8°C.

The rainy season runs from June to September, and July is usually the wettest month. Check for ticks after every walk.

For a new Greyhound puppy, the easiest months to arrive are October to March: not too hot, not too wet, and warm enough at night.
