Space and the outdoors with a Greyhound Puppy

Space is rarely the constraint here; the routine is what needs attention. For a gentle, quiet, fast dog the fit is usually good either way.

Feed age-appropriate food matched to a large build, and change brands gradually rather than overnight. In moderate Deccan conditions water matters as much as food — comfortable temperatures for most of the year make routine care straightforward, and appetite often dips before anything else shows.

Grooming and coat care in Chintamani

Let the weather set the schedule, not the calendar. With comfortable temperatures for most of the year make routine care straightforward, a Greyhound Puppy's coat and skin want checking more often through the brief pre-monsoon heat. On a larger coat, matting and trapped moisture are what to catch early. Take advantage of the mild weather with consistent daily walks and play.

Local climate decides which problems actually turn up. Given comfortable temperatures for most of the year make routine care straightforward, the recurring ones here are skin and coat trouble, parasites and hydration — not the whole textbook. Keep vaccination and deworming on schedule, and book the check before the brief pre-monsoon heat rather than during it. Maintain a regular grooming routine suited to the breed's coat.

The first week

Expect a quiet few days. Most puppies eat less and sleep more while they settle. Keep the food the same as before the move, introduce the household gradually rather than all at once, and hold off on visitors for a bit.

Winters are mild, with January nights around 13°C, so cold is not a concern.

There is no long rainy season; what rain there is falls mostly in October.

For a new Greyhound puppy, the easiest months to arrive are January, February, March, May, June, July, August, November and December: not too hot, not too wet, and warm enough at night.
