Exercise and routine through the brief pre-monsoon heat in Nargund

Build the day around local conditions rather than a figure from a breed chart. In Nargund, comfortable temperatures for most of the year make routine care straightforward, which makes timing the variable that matters. Two shorter outings work better here for a breed this size. Keep vaccinations, deworming and annual vet checks on schedule year-round.

The first week

The first week is about routine, not excitement. Feed at consistent times, let the puppy approach people in its own time rather than being passed around, and keep the diet unchanged at first.

Is the Pointer Puppy right for Nargund?

Nargund is pleasant semi-tropical — comfortable temperatures for most of the year make routine care straightforward — and the Pointer Puppy is a large-sized, loyal, loving, confident breed. Those two facts decide most of what daily life looks like here. A breed this size needs its hard exercise moved to the cooler hours. Take advantage of the mild weather with consistent daily walks and play.

Feeding a large dog here

Diet is simpler than most guides make it. Good food suited to a large frame, fixed mealtimes, and any change phased in over a week. Because comfortable temperatures for most of the year make routine care straightforward, keep water available and watch intake through the brief pre-monsoon heat.

Health and vet care in Nargund

Local climate decides which problems actually turn up. Given comfortable temperatures for most of the year make routine care straightforward, the recurring ones here are skin and coat trouble, parasites and hydration — not the whole textbook. Keep vaccination and deworming on schedule, and book the check before the brief pre-monsoon heat rather than during it. Keep vaccinations, deworming and annual vet checks on schedule year-round.

Nargund is hottest in April, averaging 38°C in the afternoon. A Pointer needs real protection from that because a large body sheds heat slowly: walks before 8 am and after 7 pm, a cool tiled floor or a cooler in the afternoons, fresh water in more than one place, and never a parked car.

Winters are mild, with December nights around 15°C, so cold is not a concern.

There is no long rainy season; what rain there is falls mostly in September.

For a new Pointer puppy, the easiest months to arrive are June to February: not too hot, not too wet, and warm enough at night.
