Space and the outdoors with a Rajapalayam Puppy

Homes around Sulthanbathery usually come with their own ground, which takes the pressure off a formal exercise plan. A breed this size needs that outdoor time to be dependable, not occasional.

Feeding a large dog here

Feed age-appropriate food matched to a large build, and change brands gradually rather than overnight. In coastal tropical conditions water matters as much as food — the sea-influenced humidity makes ventilation and dry bedding important, and appetite often dips before anything else shows.

The first week

The first week is about routine, not excitement. Feed at consistent times, let the puppy approach people in its own time rather than being passed around, and keep the diet unchanged at first.

Grooming and coat care in Sulthanbathery

Let the weather set the schedule, not the calendar. With the sea-influenced humidity makes ventilation and dry bedding important, a Rajapalayam Puppy's coat and skin want checking more often through the long monsoon. On a larger coat, matting and trapped moisture are what to catch early. Dry the coat and ears thoroughly after baths or rain to prevent fungal and skin issues.

Is the Rajapalayam Puppy right for Sulthanbathery?

The Rajapalayam Puppy does well in Sulthanbathery, with one caveat worth knowing up front: the sea-influenced humidity makes ventilation and dry bedding important. For a loyal, protective, alert, large-sized breed that mostly changes when things happen rather than what happens. Dry the coat and ears thoroughly after baths or rain to prevent fungal and skin issues.

Summer here peaks in March at about 34°C. That is manageable for a Rajapalayam, but watch it closely because a large body sheds heat slowly: keep activity to the cooler ends of the day and a shaded, ventilated spot indoors.

Winters are mild, with January nights around 16°C, so cold is not a concern.

The rainy season runs from May to October, and June is usually the wettest month. Check for ticks after every walk.

For a new Rajapalayam puppy, the easiest months to arrive are November to April: not too hot, not too wet, and warm enough at night.
