Is the Cockapoo Puppy right for Thamarassery?

Start with the weather, not the breed standard. Here the air stays humid through much of the year, so coat and skin care need attention, and a small-sized dog feels that more than an owner expects. The Cockapoo Puppy adapts well to Thamarassery on a sensible routine — steady hydration and shade rather than reduced activity. Keep bedding dry and the resting area well-ventilated, especially during the monsoon.

The first week

The first week is about routine, not excitement. Feed at consistent times, let the puppy approach people in its own time rather than being passed around, and keep the diet unchanged at first.

Exercise and routine through the long monsoon in Thamarassery

The long monsoon is the stretch that needs planning. The air stays humid through much of the year, so coat and skin care need attention, so keep sessions short and frequent. Consistency does more for a Cockapoo Puppy than intensity ever will. Brush regularly — humidity makes mats and tangles form faster in longer coats.

Feeding a small dog here

Diet is simpler than most guides make it. Good food suited to a small frame, fixed mealtimes, and any change phased in over a week. Because the air stays humid through much of the year, so coat and skin care need attention, keep water available and watch intake through the long monsoon.

Summer here peaks in March at about 34°C. That is manageable for a Cockapoo: keep activity to the cooler ends of the day and a shaded, ventilated spot indoors.

Winters are mild, with January nights around 16°C, so cold is not a concern.

The rainy season runs from May to October, and June is usually the wettest month. Check for ticks after every walk.

For a new Cockapoo puppy, the easiest months to arrive are November to April: not too hot, not too wet, and warm enough at night.
