The first week

Expect a quiet few days. Most puppies eat less and sleep more while they settle. Keep the food the same as before the move, introduce the household gradually rather than all at once, and hold off on visitors for a bit.

Is the Kanni Puppy right for Badagaon (Dhasan)?

Badagaon (Dhasan) is continental plains — extreme summer heat and a brisk winter both need planning across the year — and the Kanni Puppy is a large-sized, loyal, shy, alert breed. Those two facts decide most of what daily life looks like here. A breed this size needs its hard exercise moved to the cooler hours. Watch for seasonal coat shedding as temperatures change and brush accordingly.

Feeding a large dog here

Diet is simpler than most guides make it. Good food suited to a large frame, fixed mealtimes, and any change phased in over a week. Because extreme summer heat and a brisk winter both need planning across the year, keep water available and watch intake through the peak summer and winter swings.

Living with a Kanni Puppy in Badagaon (Dhasan)

With independent houses common, there is usually room for a large-sized breed to exercise at home. Owners in the central region tend to find this dog a loyal, shy, alert companion, and the settling-in is usually easier than the first week suggests.

Grooming and coat care in Badagaon (Dhasan)

Let the weather set the schedule, not the calendar. With extreme summer heat and a brisk winter both need planning across the year, a Kanni Puppy's coat and skin want checking more often through the peak summer and winter swings. On a larger coat, matting and trapped moisture are what to catch early. Watch for seasonal coat shedding as temperatures change and brush accordingly.

Badagaon (Dhasan) is hottest in May, averaging 43°C in the afternoon, and stays above 38°C from April to June. A Kanni needs real protection from that because a large body sheds heat slowly: walks before 8 am and after 7 pm, a cool tiled floor or a cooler in the afternoons, fresh water in more than one place, and never a parked car.

Winters are cool rather than cold, with January nights around 8°C. A Kanni has a short, thin coat, so a light sweater helps on the coldest nights.

The rainy season runs from July to August, and July is usually the wettest month. Check for ticks after every walk.

For a new Kanni puppy, the easiest months to arrive are March, October and November: not too hot, not too wet, and warm enough at night.
